Title, Script & Caption Tools

Everything on this page produces words: the title that has to earn the click, the first fifteen seconds that have to earn the watch, the outline that keeps the middle from sagging, and the caption that has to work after Instagram truncates it.

The title and the thumbnail are one unit

A viewer never sees your title alone — it always arrives attached to a thumbnail, and the two either say the same thing twice or they cover different ground. The second is almost always stronger. If the thumbnail already shows the outcome, the title should supply the stakes or the question rather than captioning the image.

Write the title before you record, not after you edit. A title you cannot write clearly is usually a video whose premise is not clear yet, and finding that out before you spend three hours filming is worth the five minutes.

Where retention is actually won

On YouTube, the first fifteen seconds decide most of your retention curve, and the most reliable structure is to restate the promise from the title and then immediately show why it is not obvious. On Reels and Shorts you have one to three seconds and no patience budget at all, which is why those hooks are a separate tool.

Estimating runtime before you record is the unglamorous half of this. A script that runs four minutes over target does not get tightened in the edit; it gets padded out and then abandoned by viewers in the middle.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a YouTube title be?+

YouTube truncates titles in most surfaces somewhere around 60 characters, and the mobile feed can cut sooner. Front-load the part that has to be read: if the specific, interesting word is at character 70, most viewers will never see it.

Do these tools write the whole video for me?+

No, and that is deliberate. They produce titles, hooks and outlines — the structural decisions. The body of the script is where your actual expertise shows up, and generated prose is the fastest way to sound like everyone else.

Will AI-generated titles get my video penalised?+

No. YouTube has no issue with how you arrived at a title; it cares whether the title accurately describes the video. A generated title that oversells the content will hurt you through poor retention and viewer dissatisfaction, not through a policy strike.
